Squealing or Squeaking When You Brake

A high-pitched squeal when applying the brakes is one of the most recognizable automotive noises.

In many cases, squealing brakes are caused by worn brake pads. Many brake pads include wear indicators designed to produce a noticeable sound as the friction material gets low. This alerts the driver that it may be time for brake service.

Brake squealing can also be related to:
